Admissions for Freshman Students

Follow these steps to ensure a smooth entrance into KC!

STEP 1 – Apply for Admission:

Apply for admission online at www.applytexas.org. It is required before you apply for financial aid, orientation, and housing.
Application priority dates are: July 1 for fall semester and dual credit, Nov. 1 for spring semester and April 1 for summer terms.
Request your high school and/or previous college(s) to have official transcripts sent to KC.
Send official ACT/SAT scores (if taken).
Provide your bacterial meningitis vaccination record.

STEP 2 – Apply for Financial Aid:

Apply for financial aid.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The Financial Aid priority date is July 1.
STEP 3 – Meet Placement Requirement:

Meet the placement requirement by taking the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) Assessment as necessary unless otherwise exempt from developmental requirements.
Please note: Kilgore College requires students enrolling in Level-one Certificate Programs test for advising purposes only.
Prior to taking the TSI Assessment, students must compete the KC TSI pre-assessment activity.
Documentation of the pre-assessment activity is required before taking the TSI Assessment.
STEP 4 – Attend Orientation:

Once accepted, complete New Student Online Orientation and register for classes.
Orientation is mandatory for all first-time college students and recommended for anyone new to Kilgore College.
STEP 5 – Meet with and Advisor & Register for Classes:

STEP 6 – Apply for Housing (If Needed):

Apply for on-campus housing (optional).
A $210 deposit is required.
Proof of your bacterial meningitis vaccination must be on file 10 days prior to move-in.

Admissions for International Students

How to Apply:

For any questions about international admissions or the international program, please contact KC’s Office of Admissions & Registrar via email (internationalstudents@kilgore.edu). There is no application fee to apply to KC.

xInternational Student Admission Requirements

A non-immigrant alien students seeking F-1 Visa category are managed by the Office of Admissions and Registrar. Students must submit and meet the following criteria:

  1. Application Form:  A completed Application for International Student Admission to the Office of Admissions and Registrar 60 days prior to the beginning of registration.
  2. Proof of English Proficiency:  Request official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results be sent to KC.  Official scores must be sent directly from ETS to Kilgore College (DI Code: 6341). KC requires a minimum iBT score of at least 71.
  3. Financial Statement:  The statement requires the signature of the applicant, the applicant’s sponsor, and the sponsor’s bank official, and must have an official seal.
  4. Bank Statement:  A financial statement proving that the applicant has sufficient resources for support at a level of $16,610 or more. 
  5. Transcripts:  Must have your non-U.S. transcripts evaluated, translated to English, and sent directly to Kilgore College. KC requires evaluations and translations be conducted by a National Association of Credit Evaluation Services member. http://www.naces.org/  NOTE: If the student has attended a school(s) in the United States, official transcript(s) must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions and Registrar from the issuing institution.
  6. Medical Records:  A medical record giving evidence of immunization against mumps, measles, rubella and bacterial meningitis, as well as proof of a negative test for tuberculosis (including test results or chest x-ray results).
