- Application requirements: Submitted application materials; letters of recommendation; interview with a committee member or two from the program; an essay on your reasons for pursuing physical therapy as a career. There is also a personal statement that you’ll need to write and submit with your application. The essay should have at least 500 words and be exclusively about why you want to become a physical therapist. The Feinberg School of Medicine
Education, Research, Clinical Care and Community Service. The Feinberg School of Medicine is home to the only accredited physical therapy program in Illinois. The program is designed to train students to be proficient in both clinical practice as well as research methodologies. There are many opportunities for students to become involved in research including working with faculty members on projects involving animal models or human subjects studies.
University of Alabama at Birmingham
UAB is ranked as one of the top universities in the country by US News & World Report, receiving a silver medal in the 2019 “Best Graduate Schools” list.

Virginia Commonwealth University
Virginia Commonwealth University offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The program has a full-time, three-year curriculum that includes clinical education experiences that begin in the first semester and continue throughout the program. Students can choose to spend their clinical time at one of five different sites:
- VCU Health System—Colonial Heights Hospital and Medical Center in Virginia Beach, VA;
- Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital & Clinics in Roanoke, VA;
- Mary Washington Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Fredericksburg, VA;
- VCU Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, VA; or
